The 2006 Bahamas Cruise

Day 4-5: At Sea - Port Canaveral

Thursday, 30 Mar 06: Today, we were at sea.  I woke up at 5:00 am and stayed up reading until about 6:30. I fell back asleep and slept until 9:00 or so.  About 9:30, Heather and I left for breakfast and then a walk around the ship just enjoying the sun and sea air.  We also walked through all the onboard shops and then hit the casino.  After we lost about 25 bucks in the casino, we headed back up to the room for Heather to get something to drink and for me to update the journal.
About 1:00 pm, we went out to the top deck and watched the men's Belly Flop contest in the pool.  Stupid, but entertaining to watch.  After that was over, we headed to "Johnny Rocket's" to grab some lunch.  After lunch, it was back to the room to red and take a nice nap.  Around 6:00, we got up, showered and headed to the show at 7:00 pm.  Show was pretty good. (Dancing through the Movies)  After the show, it was dinner and we had a three piece band come around and take requests. They played anything from Broadway musicals, to music from Disney Films to Celine Dion's theme from the "Titanic."  Which, I actually wondered, how appropriate it was to request that since we were on a cruise ship in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle.
Around 10:00 we went back to the room to pack, put our bags outside the room and fill out our customs forms.  After all that was done, we went to the Late Night Comedy show and watched a comedian.  He has some funny stuff, but not enough to make me forget it was midnight and I wanted to go to bed.

Friday, 31 March 06:  By 9:30 am, we were off the ship and in our car headed back to Georgia.  We thought we'd make some good time since it was a Friday and, we thought, most people would be headed TO Florida, not away from it.  As always, when it comes to traffic, I was wrong.  That normal 5 1/2 hour trip took almost 8 hours to make.  We hit some really slow traffic where the Florida Turnpike and I-75 meet going North and then we hit STUPID bumper-to-bumper, stop-and-go traffic in Tifton, GA.  It took us almost an hour to go 2 miles in Tifton.  But, we made it home safe and sound around 5:15 pm to the loving welcome of a much missed puppy and parrot.  Of course, the pup was MUCH more happy to see us than the bird was.

All in all, it was a good trip.  It was not the best cruise we've taken, but even that being said, it was still worth every penny we spent on it.  As I have always said, the Royal Caribbean staff is great and any problems we had with the ship during the beginning, were soon forgotten (after they were fixed) due to the impeccable staff R/C has aboard it's ships.
